These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the CLC Education website and application operated by Training Solutions (trading as CLC Education) (“CLC”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. By creating an account, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. They are not legal advice; have them reviewed by qualified counsel before production use.
1. The service
CLC Education provides an online platform to connect learners with tutors, including scheduling, subscription-based session credits, and online video lessons. The primary family experience is intended for parents or legal guardians, who register and sign in using their own email address and contact details. Learner (student) profiles are then created and managed inside the applicationunder that adult's account. Learners using the family product are not intended to register as independent account holders in place of a parent or guardian. We may add or change features as the product evolves.
2. Accounts and eligibility
Who may register: You may only create and use an account if you are at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement. You must provide accurate registration information. Accounts are secured through our authentication provider (Clerk). You are responsible for safeguarding access to your account.
Minors and student profiles: Where you add or manage information about a minor, you represent that you are their parent, legal guardian, or otherwise authorised to do so. Student profiles sit under the parent or guardian account, and you are responsible for the accuracy of that information and for appropriate use of the platform on behalf of those learners.
3. Payments, subscriptions, and card data (Paystack)
Paid plans are billed in ZAR through Paystack, our payment processor. We do not collect or store full payment card numbers or card security codes (CVV/CVC) on our own systems. Card details are entered and processed by Paystack according to their terms and security standards. We may store subscription references, payment status, and related metadata needed to operate billing and credits.
Subscription management (including cancellation at the end of a billing period where applicable) is handled in the app and via Paystack as integrated. Trial and credit limits may be configured by CLC and reflected in your plan.
4. Session credits and booking rules
Session access is generally provided through a credit model tied to your subscription. Technical rules (such as how far in advance you may book, or when you may join a video room) are configured in the platform and may change; we will use reasonable efforts to keep in-app descriptions accurate.
5. Cancellation and refunds (sessions)
One-to-one sessions: If you cancel a confirmed session at least the minimum number of hours before the scheduled start time configured in the platform (commonly 24 hours, unless CLC sets a different value), your session credit may be returned to your subscription balance. Cancellations inside that window may not restore credits, except where CLC or an administrator decides otherwise. Platform administrators may apply different rules when acting in an admin capacity.
Group sessions: Rules for seats, credits, and cash payments may differ. For example, cancelling a confirmed credit-based seat may return reserved credits to your balance according to the logic implemented in the platform. Always check in-app messaging and communications for your specific booking.
Nothing in these Terms overrides mandatory consumer protections under applicable South African law.
6. Video sessions
Online lessons may be delivered using third-party video infrastructure (e.g. Stream / GetStream). You agree not to record, redistribute, or misuse session content without consent and applicable law. Tutors and families must behave respectfully and safely.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Violate law or infringe others’ rights;
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the platform, other users’ data, or our systems;
- Use the service to harass, abuse, or harm others;
- Interfere with or disrupt the service or other users’ sessions.
We may suspend or terminate access for breaches of these Terms.
8. Disclaimers
Tutoring is an educational support service. We do not guarantee specific academic outcomes. The service is provided on an “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by South African law, CLC is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
10. Privacy
Our processing of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy.
11. Changes
We may modify these Terms. We will update the “Last updated” date above. Continued use after changes may constitute acceptance, where permitted by law.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, subject to mandatory provisions that cannot be varied by contract.
